Okay, this is very important. Fisher-Price just recalled so many toys due to lead paint it is really frightening. I can imagine that there is some poor 4 year old somewhere who just had his entire toy collection removed from his room due to this recall. Earlier this summer Thomas The Train toys were recalled due to lead paint. Much to my son's sadness he had to give up one engine out of his collection. Pacifiers were recalled just last week. Okay but these pacifiers should NEVER have been sold in the first place. People are buying normal safe pacifiers and then sticking on the little crystals all over them and then selling them online and at flea marts and craft fairs and such. These are so dangerous! Really what are people thinking? So here is the point of this little rant. You need to be very careful and make wise safe choices when it comes to your kids but even then, something you think would be safe like Fisher Price toys or Thomas the Train can turn out to be not so safe.
I sign up for recall alerts and strongly suggest that every one not just parents do too. So many items get recalled now days it is sickening. It makes me think of what my grandparents say, "They don't make things like they used to." But then again even some really old items are dangerous, like old chests that can automatically close and latch shut while a kids is in it and cribs with slats too far apart that a baby can become trapped.
Here are the links to the recall information sites I use. Sign up for their emails you will not be sorry. Many times you won't have to worry but then there are the recalls you see that you are very thankful you signed up.
